As in the past we are working with local law enforcement to help maintain a safe school environment at EAJ. As you are probably aware, the district has a full-time liaison officer that is in the district daily. In addition, most recently, we have coordinated with law enforcement to bring in drug dogs to sweep the halls, lockers and restrooms for banned substances such as various drugs. When these sweeps occur, it is the normal procedure to place the school in secure mode (soft lockdown) so the dogs/officers can do their jobs. The school-wide searches will typically take 20-30 minutes.

It is our hope that taking these initiatives will help prevent students from bringing contraband to school (which has significant consequences). We will continue to have periodic unannounced sweeps throughout the year.
